From convict times, when Fitzroy Dock was constructed, and through its long association with the Royal Australian Navy during the 20th century, Cockatoo Island has developed a rich maritime history. Cockatoo Island Marine Centre is now continuing that tradition and returning the Docks Precinct to maritime use once more.
The Marine Centre offers the Sydney boating public a chance to connect with Cockatoo Island more than ever before. The busy café, right next to the Camber Wharf Visitor Marina makes for an ideal beginning or end to a day on the Island. Boat owners are welcome to drop in for a few hours, or stay overnight. And for those without a boat, the Marine Centre has a fleet of dinghies for hire, from two hours to all day, offering everyone a chance to explore the waterways of Sydney Harbour.
Come and visit us at Cockatoo Island Marine Centre, by foot or by boat, and help us bring Cockatoo Island’s rich maritime history back to life.
